Hi Everyone – Just wanted to let you all know that I’m taking a short hiatus from posting while I finish my book on the Loew’s Kings Theatre. Don’t worry though – the site isn’t going anywhere. I have a backlog of 16 theaters that I haven’t posted yet and plans to photograph many more.  For updates during the hiatus check out the After the Final Curtain Facebook page at: https://www.facebook.com/Afterthefinalcurtain

Here’s a quick look at some of the upcoming theaters that will be featured on AFtC later this year:

UC

UC Theatre Berkeley, CA

Varsity2

Varsity Theatre Evanston, IL

Warner Huntington Park

Warner Theatre Huntington Park, CA

Fox Theatre Fullerton, CA

  1. Really excited for the book. I used to live right next to the Loews Theater and we used to walk behind it when we would go to Stop and Shop. We’d always see them working on it! One day we were walking to the store and they had all the old seats in the back that they were throwing out. I dont think I’ll be visiting the theater anytime soon but I look forward to seeing the book on it. After all those time we walked past it peering through the windows and trying to catch a glimpse it would be cool to see more of whats inside.

    • Aw, I wish I got to see/photograph them taking out the old seats. If you still live in the area keep an eye on the theater’s website – they have some great shows coming up.

  2. I’ll wait quietly for future photos while you finish your book. I’m working on a history of Inglewood and would LOVE to say I’m close to finishing. Are you self-publishing? If so where? We have movement on our Fox. Will let you know when there is something definite to report. Happy writing. Anne

    • Hi Anne,

No, I’m not self-publishing. My book is being published by the Theatre Historical Society of America. I bet Arcadia Publishing would be very interested in your book!

      Good movement or bad movement?

      Best,
      Matt
